Teeth whitening
What you can expect
Professional teeth whitening can refresh and brighten your smile in a way that feels natural, healthy and considered.
Before any whitening begins, we assess your teeth, gums, existing restorations and overall oral health to make sure treatment is appropriate. We also take time to understand what kind of result you’re looking for — a subtle lift in brightness, a more visible change or something specifically planned ahead of further aesthetic treatment. Tooth shade, enamel condition and how light interacts with your natural teeth all influence what’s realistic and likely to look right for you.
A plan shaped around you
At Hygge Dental, whitening isn’t offered as a one-size-fits-all product.
It’s planned around your smile, goals and dental health — and recommended only when it’s the right next step. For some guests, that may be in-chair whitening for a more immediate change. For others, a custom take-home system worn for a couple of weeks might better suit their lifestyle and preferences. Where appropriate, the two can also be combined.
Whitening can be an effective first step in a broader aesthetic plan, or an initial refresh in its own right. Either way, we’ll carefully guide you through the options — so the result feels natural, the process feels supervised and the brightness of your smile feels considered, not generic.
FAQs
Let’s answer some frequently asked questions.
How long does in-chair teeth whitening typically take?
In-chair teeth whitening is usually completed in a single appointment. Appointment length can vary depending on your starting shade, sensitivity risk and the whitening system used, but it’s generally planned as a focused cosmetic appointment rather than a multi-visit treatment.
Before whitening, we’ll assess your teeth and gums to ensure whitening is suitable and to identify any issues that may need to be managed first.
How long does the teeth whitening process typically take with the take-home system?
Take-home whitening is usually completed over a number of days or weeks, depending on the whitening gel, your desired shade change and your sensitivity level.
You’ll be provided with instructions on how long to wear the trays, how much gel to use and when to pause or contact the clinic if you experience discomfort.
Do I need to follow any specific instructions during or after teeth whitening?
Yes. You’ll receive instructions specific to your whitening system. These may include how to use the whitening gel, how to manage sensitivity, what to avoid immediately after treatment and how to maintain your result.
Whitening results vary between patients and are influenced by factors such as tooth shade, enamel characteristics, diet, oral hygiene and prior dental work.
Do you offer a payment plan for teeth whitening?
Yes. Hygge Dental offers payment plans for eligible treatments, subject to approval by the finance provider and the terms of the selected plan. During your consultation, we can provide a treatment estimate and talk you through the available payment options so you can decide which best suits your treatment timeline and budget.
A note on treatment information
All dental treatment is subject to individual assessment. The information on these pages is intended as a guide to what we offer at Hygge Dental, not as a recommendation of treatment for any specific person. Before any care begins, your dentist will discuss the options most suitable for you — including the benefits, risks, limitations, costs, expected outcomes and ongoing maintenance — to help you make an informed decision with clarity and confidence. Outcomes vary between guests.
